BITS Pilani Direct Admission 2025: Process to break ties among rank holders
If a Board declares more than one candidate as the first rank holder, BITS Pilani will admit a maximum of four candidates under this scheme. In cases where more than four candidates share the first rank, the tie will be resolved using the following criteria.
- The candidates’ scores in mathematics from the 12th-grade examination will be used first to break the tie.
- If the tie remains unresolved, their physics scores from the 12th-grade exam will be considered next.
- Should the tie still persist, the candidates’ chemistry scores from the 12th-grade examination will be used.
- If the tie continues, their mathematics scores from the 10th-grade examination will be taken into account.
- If required, their science scores from the 10th-grade examination will be considered to separate them.
- If the tie still cannot be resolved, the admission committee reserves the right to introduce additional criteria, including a written test. Any such measures will be communicated to the candidates who have applied under this scheme.
