The National Testing Agency (NTA) will issue the Joint Entrance Examination - Main (JEE Main 2026) session 1 response sheet on February 4. NTA will announce the JEE Main session 1 result 2026 by February 12.

The testing agency will open the JEE Mains 2026 session 2 registration form from February 1 to 25 for candidates seeking admission to BTech, BArch and BPlanning programmes.
Candidates who appeared for the JEE Main 2026 session 1 exam will be able to download their response sheet and answer key on the official website jeemain.nta.nic.in, using their login details once available.
As per the marking scheme, candidates will be given four marks for each correct answer, and one mark will be deducted for each wrong answer for MCQs.
According to NTA, a total of 13,00,368 candidates appeared for JEE Main 2026, held from January 21 to 24 and on January 28, 2026, marked attendance of 96.26%.

A JEE Main 2026 response sheet will contain the candidate's application number and registration number, the exam date and time, the type of question, the option IDs, the status of each question, and the correct option.

The NTA will display the JEE Main session 1 recorded responses and question papers attempted by candidates on the official website, jeemain.nta.nic.in, prior to the declaration of the result. The JEE Mains response sheet for the January session will be available on the portal for two to three days. Candidates have been advised to download the JEE Main answer sheets as it will not be provided at a later stage.

Last year, the NTA revised the tie-breaking process for Paper 1 to determine ranks of candidates with identical total NTA scores. The criteria used were applied in the following order:

The JEE Main 2026 January 28 Shift 2 paper was easier compared to the Shift 1 exam. Students appearing in the afternoon session said that Mathematics was the most difficult section, whereas Chemistry and Physics were relatively easier.
