BITS Design School to close BDes (Honours) application form on February 1; entrance test from March 31

The BITS Design School (BITSDES) will close the application form for admission to its Bachelor of Design (Honours) programme on February 1, 2026. Candidates who have not yet applied can register through the official website at bitsdesign.edu.in.

The BITS Pilani will admit a total of 180 students for the BDes (Honours) programme through NID Design Aptitude Test (DAT prelims, UCEED, or the BITS Design Aptitude Test (BITSDAT).

Candidates having a valid UCEED score can also apply for the BDes (Honours) course before the deadline.

The BITS Design School will conduct the computer-based online test - BITSDAT 2026 from March 31 to April 5 for admission to four-year BDes (Honours) programme

“Only students who have submitted their applications by 1 February 2026 will be able to upload their scores when the application portal is opened between 8 April and 12 April 2026,” according to an official statement.

BDes (Honours): Specialisations, scope

The college will announce the list of shortlisted students on April 16, which will be followed by portfolio uploads from April 16 to 20. Interviews for qualified candidates will be held between May 4 to 13 and the final results will be declared on May 18, 2026.

The BDes (honours) programme offers specialisation in physical product design, digital product design (UI/UX), design research & insights, experience design and visual design.

The course also provides transdisciplinary education blending design, policy, business strategy, and emerging technologies to prepare students for evolving industry and policy needs, the college said.

Moreover, students will have the opportunity to participate in the BITS Pilani Practice School programme from the third year onwards.

The Practice School is a structured learning programme by BITS Pilani that places students in real industry environments to work on live projects under joint academic and industry mentorship, including organisations such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, NVIDIA and ISRO, among others.

Third-year BITSDES students will undertake an eight week industry engagement, followed by a twenty two week immersion in their final year, making it a core part of the curriculum that connects classroom learning with hands-on professional experience before graduation.
