Download EBookThe Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB) has announced that Tyagarajan S.M., an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer, has formally assumed charge as the chairman of the board. The handover took place on June 20, 2026, in the presence of board officials and employees.
Outgoing BSEB Chairman Anand Kishor handed over the responsibilities to Tyagarajan S.M. during a formal ceremony. Senior officers and staff members of the board were present on the occasion.
The event marked both the formal induction of the new Chairman and the farewell of Anand Kishore, whose tenure was marked by significant changes and improvements in the Board's examination and administrative processes.

While addressing officials, Anand Kishor thanked the board's officers and employees for their contribution to improving the examination system and overall functioning of the organisation. He acknowledged their role in implementing several major reforms in recent years.
Focus on transparency and reforms
Speaking after taking charge, Tyagarajan S.M. praised the efforts made under the leadership of the outgoing chairman. He said the significant changes introduced in the examination system have helped the Bihar School Examination Board establish a distinct identity at the national level.
He further stated that the board would continue to carry forward its work with complete transparency, honesty and dedication. Emphasising the importance of the institution, he said the future of lakhs of students is linked to the board's functioning, making it essential to ensure efficiency and accountability in every process.

Experienced IAS officer appointed
Tyagarajan SM is a 2011-batch IAS officer. Before his appointment as BSEB Chairman, he served as the District Magistrate of Patna.
His appointment as the chairman of the Bihar School Examination Board was made through a notification issued by the General Administration Department on June 18, 2026. With the new leadership in place, the board is expected to continue its focus on strengthening examination administration and maintaining transparency in its operations.
