CAT 2021: Preparation plan and strategy by Experts for July & August months

NEW DELHI- IIM Ahmedabad will be releasing the CAT notification 2021 in July. Candidates interested in appearing for this MBA entrance test have almost 5 months to prepare for the same. Here's a CAT preparation plan for the months of July and August that can help the candidates ace the test with a good percentile.

Common Admission Test (CAT) is a computer-based test conducted every year for admission to various postgraduate management programmes offered by IIMs and other B-schools accepting CAT scores. CAT 2021 question paper will comprise of questions from three sections namely, Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Ability (QA).

Going by past year's trend, candidates are expected to get one hour for each section and there will be a total of 76 questions consisting of 54 multiple choice questions (MCQs) and 22 type in the answer (TITA) questions.

CAT 2021 preparation strategy for July and August

First, get well-versed with the concepts:

  • Having clear concepts about each and every topic shows how thoroughly and wholeheartedly you have practiced.
  • Once your concepts are clear, you'll easily be able to apply your knowledge practically. Conceptual practice helps one to apply multiple methods in solving tricky questions as well.

  • The clearer the concepts, the more ideas will be there to ace the complexities of the questions.

  • Some concepts are also not a cakewalk for everyone and need time and hard work therefore, it is the most important aspect of preparation to pay utmost attention to the concepts, after all, the whole preparation strategy relies on the understanding of the concepts.

  • Since it's June already, aspirants must try to complete the CAT syllabus by the end of July.

Set targets on a weekly basis:

  • CAT 2021 preparations require consistent practice therefore, it is very much important to fix targets and achieve them as per the decided deadlines.

  • For this, candidates can fix weekly targets to complete the syllabus within time and practice effectively.

  • Moreover, CAT mock tests also should be taken on a weekly basis, and analysis of the same should be done accordingly.

Involve Curricular Activities in your routine:

  • Preparations could become very mundane sometimes therefore, it is also good for aspirants to get involved in curricular activities in order to keep their mind fresh.

  • They can do some certificate courses that can enhance their profile and add to the value to their resume as well.

  • Try to visualize your thoughts about your dream college. It will help you to think positively and will push you more to work hard in order to achieve your goal.

About CAT 2021 notification and registration
