Ideally, you should give one full-length mock per week from September. Only giving the CAT mock tests will not help, one should analyze it thoroughly before attempting the next mock. CAT exam has a sectional time-limit of 40 minutes each. This means that candidates will have to solve the paper in a pre-defined manner. IIM Bangalore has announced all the important dates for the CAT exam. The details of the CAT application form dates, eligibility etc were also released. Aspirants may note that the fee for CAT registration 2022 has been increased by Rs 100 for general candidates and by Rs 50 for reserved candidates. To fill and submit the CAT application form 2022, candidates need to pay Rs 2300 (general category candidates) and Rs 1150 for the reserved candidates. The CAT application form 2022 last date is September 14.

The CAT registration fee is Rs 1150 for SC, ST and PwD category candidates and Rs 2300 for all other categories of candidates. It must be noted that a candidate needs to pay CAT 2022 registration fee only once, irrespective of the number of institutes he/ she is applying. The SC, ST and PwD candidates must upload a copy of their SC/ST/PwD certificates at the time of registration of the CAT exam. Fee once paid cannot be refunded under any circumstances.

Copy of SC/ ST/ NC-OBC/ EWS/ PwD certificate(s) should be uploaded at the time of CAT 2022 registration. Failure to upload a copy of the caste/ class certificate will result in the rejection of a candidate's CAT registration.

In order to pursue MBA/ PGDM at IIMs, candidates will have to appear for Common Admission Test (CAT). Just appearing in the CAT exam does not confirm your seat in an IIM. After clearing CAT 2022 entrance test, shortlisted candidates will have to appear for the further selection rounds which include Written Ability Test (WAT), Group Discussion (GD), and Personal Interview (PI).

CAT is considered as a dream exam for management aspirants. More than 2 lakh candidates appear for the exam every year. The CAT conducting body does not have a defined syllabus for CAT 2022 preparation. Yes, CAT is only for the MBA entrance exam, and the score card of the CAT exam is not only used for admission in IIMs but it is acceptable in almost all the best MBA colleges in India.

• CAT application fee increased: IIM Ahmedabad has notified that the CAT application fee has been increased. CAT application fee for General/  OBC category has been increased Rs 2,000 to Rs 2,200 and for SC/ ST/ PwD category has been increased from Rs 1,000 to Rs 1,100.

• The number of CAT test cities increased: CAT was conducted in 158 cities across India. Previously, CAT exam was held in 156 test cities. Last year CAT entrance test conducted at over 400 CAT test centres in 158 cities.

The number of questions has been trimmed down since last year. And this has led to the spike in the difficulty level, which eventually resulted in cutoff getting down.   Candidates scoring above 95 percentile may get a call from most of IIMs for further rounds - AWT and PI. To get a call from top IIMs such as IIM, Ahmedabad, IIM, Bangalore, students must score above 99%ile. Expected cutoff by coaching institutes will be released soon after the exam.
