NEW DELHI: Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Bangalore is all set to conduct CAT 2022 this Sunday, November 27. The CAT admit card for the test has already been released on iimcat.ac.in. CAT exam 2022 is a computer-based test to be held in 150 cities across India. With just five days for the CAT exam, Careers360 brings forth topper tips to clear this IIM entrance exam.

CAT 2022 exam duration is 2 hours. Candidates appearing for the Common Admission Test 2022 will have to answer each section within 40 minutes. With just a few days left for CAT exam 2022, candidates must intensify their last minute preparation efforts. A little motivation and some insights by past CAT toppers may give a few good ideas on cracking CAT 2022. The following tips are from toppers of past CAT exams.

CAT 2022 - Be smart

Neelay Jain who qualified CAT exam in 2021 with 99.98 percentile suggests candidates to follow smart preparation hacks. He used social media platforms and Telegram channels to get study materials and updates on the CAT exam. He also suggests not to attempt to incorporate everything into the CAT exam 2022 plan. Rather to be smart about their preparation.

Practice with CAT previous year papers

Viraj Shah who scored 99.99 percentile CAT exam last year studied in a group with friends while taking CAT mock tests. He says that this helped him improve his speed in solving questions while honing his time management skills. Group studies is beneficial in the sense that it allows a competitive spirit. “Candidates should also work on improving their reading and comprehension speed for CAT,” says Viraj.

Learn time management during CAT exam 2022

It is one of the most crucial skills in order to crack the CAT exam which is a time sensitive entrance exam with a limited time to answer. Make sure it does not take more than 2 minutes to solve a question. According to Dhanesh who scored 99.99 percentile in CAT 2021 “Speed and time management are two most important aspects CAT aspirants should work on in order to crack the entrance exam with a good score,”I used to solve around 90 to 100 questions every day,” he says.

Harshit Kumar, another CAT topper who scored 99.99 percentile in 2021 also believes that time management is of utmost importance for the CAT exam.

Give more mock tests

Be it CAT exam or anything else, practice has no substitute. Charag Gupta who scored 100 percentile in one of toughest MBA entrance exams, CAT, recommends candidates to give one CAT mock test as well as CAT question paper every day during the last week of preparation. “I used to study for five hours a day which also includes mock tests,” says Gupta.

Check questions, not topic

It is common with most students that they tend to spend more time answering a question around their favourite topic. This is a big blunder candidates make while answering questions in the CAT exam. Candidates must know that even the topics they have a good grip on can ask a question that is tricky to answer and take more of your time. So focus on CAT question paper and see if you can answer it easily, go ahead with such questions first. Do attempt difficult and tricky questions only if you have time left after answering the easy ones.
