The CAT 2023 is being held for admission to MBA and PGDM programmes offered by 21 IIMs and over 1,200 B-schools across the country. The CAT exam will have questions from these subjects - data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR), quantitative ability (QA), and verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC). The difficulty level of the CAT exam is moderate to high.
Each IIM has a different selection procedure. Usually, the selection process comprises CAT exam score and written ability test (WAT) or group discussion or personal interview (PI). Each IIM assign different weightage to these phases. It also sets a minimum CAT exam cutoff percentile to participate in the next round of the IIM admission process. Candidates can check the admission criteria by visiting the websites of respective IIMs.

Other than IIMs, institutions accepting CAT exam scores conduct group discussion or personal interviews for admission to their MBA and PGDM programmes. However, a few colleges admit students only on the basis of CAT exam scores without conducting a personality assessment round.
