CAT 2024 Result: Updates on CAT scorecard; cut-off for IIMs, seat matrix

There is no limit to attempt the CAT exam. CAT exam is conducted every year for admission to management programmes offered by the Indian Institutes of Management (IIMs) and participating B-schools.

• Candidates are required to have completed their graduation degree with a minimum of 50% marks in total aggregate or its equivalent CGPA (5% relaxation for candidates belonging to reserved category).
• Candidates are required to have done their graduation from any university. If no CGPA-to-marks conversion scheme is shared by the college, IIM Mumbai will calculate equivalence by dividing the CGPA by the maximum CGPA and multiplying by 100.
• Final-year students provisionally admitted are required to submit their final year mark sheet and degree certificate by June 30, 2025.

Private MBA colleges in India, such as Great Lakes Institute of Management, Goa Institute of Management (GIM), Institute of Rural Management Anand (IRMA), and TA Pai Management Institute (TAPMI), will offer admissions to students who secure a CAT percentile between 80 to 85 in 2024.

The CAT 2024 result date is not yet announced. In the past two years, CAT results were declared within three weeks of the exam.

CAT 2023 exam was conducted on November 26 and resutts were declared on December 21.

The CAT scorecard 2024 will be issued on the official website, iimcat.ac.in, for 2.93 lakh candidates. The IIM CAT 2024 scorecard will be valid till December 31, 2025, the information bulletin said. 

The IIM Calcutta published the provisional CAT answer key 2024 on December 3 and allowed candidates to raise objections against the questions, if any, before December 5. Candidates had to pay answer key challenge fee of Rs 1,200 per question and upload the supporting documents. 

The CAT question paper 2024 had three sections - verbal ability and reading comprehension (VARC), quantitative ability (QA), and data interpretation and logical reasoning (DILR). Although the number of questions was increased to 68 without prior notification, the entrance exam was rated easy this year. As per the changes, the CAT VARC section had 24 questions and the remaining two sections had 22 questions each.
