NEW DELHI: The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (IIM Calcutta) is expected to announce the Common Admission Test (CAT) 2024 result soon. Candidates who appeared for the exam can download the CAT 2024 result through the official website at iimcat.ac.in. The CAT 2024 results will be determined using a normalization method. The CAT 2024 normalisation process considers various factors, including the highest and lowest scores, the mean and median scores, as well as the top 10 and lowest percentiles.
The IIM CAT 2024 exam was conducted on November 24 in three shifts. The first shift took place from 8:30 am to 10:30 am, followed by the second shift from 12:30 pm to 2:30 pm, and the third shift from 4:30 pm to 6:30 pm.
To ensure fairness and consistency in evaluating candidates across these sessions, the scores will undergo a normalisation process. After normalising the scores across different papers, further normalisation will be carried out within each section. The final CAT 2024 scaled and normalised scores will then be converted into percentiles for shortlisting candidates.

For CAT 2024, IIMs will calculate the scaled score for each candidate in all three sections. The exam will be conducted in three sessions: the morning session (8:30 am – 10:30 am), the afternoon session (12:30 pm – 2:30 pm), and the evening session (4:30 pm – 6:30 pm) on November 24, 2024. The overall scaled score will be the sum of the scaled scores from all three sections.
Candidates can check how CAT 2024 scaled score is calculated and the normalisation formula;
Step 1: First the mean & standard deviation (SD) will be calculated of the raw scores in the DILR section for all candidates who appeared in the morning shift
Hence, G1 = M1 + S1
Step 2: Similarly, the mean and SD of the candidates who appeared in the afternoon shift will be calculated from the raw scores in the same DILR section for all candidates.
Step 3: Now, calculate the mean and the standard deviation (SD) of the raw scores in the DILR section for all candidates in both morning and afternoon shifts.
Step 4: Calculate the mean raw score in the DILR section of the top 0.1% of candidates who appeared in the first-morning shift. Denote the same by ?1 0.1
Step 5: Similarly, For the top 0.1% of candidates of the afternoon shift, calculate the mean raw score in the DILR section. Denote it by ?2 0.1
Step 6: Now for the top 0.1% of candidates who appeared in CAT 2024 for both morning and afternoon shifts, calculate the mean raw score in the DILR section. Denote the same by ?0.1.
Total scaled score = Sum of scaled scores of DILR, VARC, QA
