CBSE Class 12 Board Exam 2026 LIVE: 12th English paper easy, 'competency-based questions' for literature

According to the feedback from the experts, Parity was effectively maintained across all sets of the English paper. The comprehensions were identical chapters were included in each set, ensuring fairness and uniformity in the assessment process.

The CBSE board will conduct the CBSE Class 12 Tourism, Air-conditioning & refrigeration exam on March 13 from 10:30 am to 1:30 pm. Students must reach the exam hall by 9:30 am; entry will close at 10 am.

To pass the CBSE Class 12 English paper, students should have to obtain at least 33% marks in the theory paper out of 80, while 20 marks will awarded on the basis of internal assessment.

“The CBSE Grade 12 English examination was quite approachable and scoring. The questions were straightforward and largely drawn from the prescribed syllabus, which made the paper comfortable to attempt. The Reading and Writing sections were clear and well-structured, offering good choices and well-defined word limits. The Literature section was slightly lengthy, but it was still manageable with proper time management. Overall, I was able to complete the paper calmly and confidently, which has motivated me for the rest of my examinations.”

According to Pragati Chundawat, PGT English, Witty International School, Udaipur,

"CBSE Grade 12 English Core examination was moderate to easy in difficulty, allowing students to approach the paper with confidence. The first two sections were straightforward enabling students to answer with clarity. The Literature section was slightly lengthy but remained within the prescribed syllabus, assessing students’ understanding of themes and characters. Overall, the paper was balanced and student-friendly with clear instructions and internal choices, effectively evaluating students’ comprehension, analytical thinking, and expression."

Anupriya Kumari, PGT English, Global Indian International School, Noida, said: “The paper was overall quite doable for most students. Those who prepared well would have found the questions fairly easy. The short answer questions were straightforward, and the writing section was easy for students familiar with the formats. The Reading and Writing sections were generally simple, though the prose extracts in the Reference to Context were slightly tricky and a bit time-consuming. In terms of difficulty, Reading and Writing were easy, while the Literature section was moderate. Overall, the paper was balanced and manageable for well-prepared students.”

According to Khushboo Arya - PGT, English at JAIN International Residential School (JIRS), Bengaluru: "Section A of set 1 was easy and as per the sample papers available on the CBSE website." 

"Section B- Writing questions were also easy and as per the sample paper. However, a minute detail in Q:5B(Job Application) can confuse the average slow learners, as they are used to seeing National Daily in questions and give a name to the paper but in the question paper, the name itself was given as ‘The National Times’ instead of national daily.  The report-writing question required students to be mindful, as the event is not a one-day but a week-long event, but the Questions were very easy," she added.

"Section C referered to context questions was very easy for students who have practiced sample papers. Overall, the literature questions were mostly aligned with the NCERT textbooks. 5 marker literature questions were competency-based but not very difficult for a student who has thoroughly practiced," Arya said.
