CBSE: Several sellers are supplying fake versions of NCERT textbooks at a discounted price, often entailing content errors that may affect students’ learning experience.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has issued an advisory for all affiliated schools on the procurement of only ‘genuine NCERT textbooks.’ CBSE has directed all schools to counsel parents to purchase only authentic NCERT textbooks from authorised sources to ensure quality and correctness of content. Several sellers are supplying fake versions of NCERT textbooks at a discounted price.
The fake NCERT textbooks are inferior in quality and entail printing and content errors, which may affect the student’s learning experience. Therefore, the board has advised parents and students to purchase only authentic textbooks from official sources by the CBSE.
In case the school procures NCERT textbooks, it should be through authorised sources only:
- NCERT Regional Production & Distribution Centres (RPDCs)
- Authorised vendors listed on the NCERT website (www.ncert.nic.in)
- NCERT Postal Supply Service on the NCERT portal
- Official NCERT Amazon storefront (amazon.in/NCERT)
"Schools are requested to share this advisory with teachers, parents, and students and ensure compliance to safeguard academic integrity and uphold the quality of learning resources," the official CBSE notice reads.
