The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has directed all affiliated-schools to relieve teachers for evaluation of CBSE Board Exams 2026 answer scripts. CBSE has also directed evaluators to follow the updated SOPs and the instructional videos for evaluating students’ answer scripts.

The board has asked to assign fewer answer books per evaluator to give them enough time to complete the evaluation within 8 to 10 days instead of 10 to 12 days. CBSE has also prepared capacity-building programmes for evaluators.
In a recent update, CBSE has introduced on-screen making (OSM) for the evaluation of CBSE Class 12 board exams 2026. The board further clarified that CBSE Class 12 answer books will be evaluated digitally, while Class 10 answer scripts will be checked in physical mode.
CBSE will conduct Class 12 exams from February 17 to April 10, and Class 10 exams will begin on February 17 and continue till March 11. Notably, in line with NEP 2020 recommendations, from this year onwards, CBSE will hold Class 10th exams 2026 twice, from May 15 onwards.

As per the board’s direction, relieving teachers after completion of evaluation will be the responsibility of the chief nodal supervisor (CNS), who will issue relieving certificates. The schools must make sure teachers are relieved full-time for all days of evaluation of their subject.
Furthermore, principals must ensure that teachers being relieved are qualified and competent per CBSE standards. The schools must relieve teachers in proportion to the number of students sponsored for board examinations.
