CBSE Class 12 Political Science Analysis: ‘Well-designed’ paper; Teachers, candidates’ reactions here

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) Class 12 students appeared for the political science exam today, March 20. The students who appeared for the Class 12 political science exam found the paper moderate with some critical thinking questions. The political science exam was held for 80 marks between 10:30 am and 1:30 pm.

Saying that the overall difficulty level of the paper was moderate with some critical thinking questions, PGT, Political Science, DPS Raj Nagar Extension Abhishek Sharma said: These [critical thinking questions] were especially visible in the MCQ marker questions. Case study-based questions were scoring.”

Also, Sharma added, the political science 2023 exam question paper was aligned with the sample paper shared by CBSE.

“Students who would have read the NCERT textbook and additional resources thoroughly would benefit from it and had no factual errors. It was a perfect integration of analysis, application and memory-based questions. Question paper was set in a way that provoked reasoning and thoughtfulness among the students,” he added.

Saying that most students will be able to score 85 to 90 percent scores, Roopali Mishra, Post Graduate Teacher of Political Science at VIBGYOR High, Lucknow, said: "The Multiple choice questions were easy. The Case study section was Moderate. Case studies were a little tricky to comprehend. Whereas the five Marks questions were Moderate. Overall the exam paper was of a Moderate level difficulty."

Summing the CBSE Class 12 political science paper as application-based, Head of School, Ekya BTM Layout, Asha Doris said: "Today's Class 12 CBSE Political Science question paper was very well-constructed, through which every chapter was well dealt with. MCQs were based on reasoning and critical thinking while the long answer questions were from the resources and content provided by NCERT. The Difficulty level of the paper ranged from moderate to high and it was clear and approachable to the students."

Analysing the paper as a bit lengthy, PGT political science, MRG School Bhawna Grover said: “As per the initial reaction of the students the paper was quite easy, especially the Map questions. Time management was must as paper was a bit lengthy and although few questions were tricky and required critical thinking and deep understanding of the topics.”

“Overall, the exam is well-designed and covers a wide range of topics, including the nature of democracy, different forms of government, political parties and pressure groups, international relations, and global issues. The questions were from the syllabus, mostly similar to what the board provided in the sample papers,” she added.

Gitanjali Sinha, PGT political science, DPS Indirapuram analysed the paper was well balanced with moderate difficulty level. Questions were direct and within the syllabus and as per the pattern of the sample paper provided by the CBSE.

While Rachna Sharma, PGT Political Science and Counsellor, KIIT World School Gurugram said the difficulty level was moderate and students found section C and D a bit tricky.
