Check NowNEW DELHI, OCTOBER 1 : The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is expected to publish the exam schedule for vocational subjects of classes 10 and 12 on Friday, October 5. As per reports, the datesheet for core subjects will be released later while that for 40 vocational subjects is expected this week. CBSE has not yet made any announcement regarding the datesheet on its official website.
Earlier on September 26, CBSE had released a public notice regarding early conduct of examinations for vocational subjects such as web applications and office communication among others. These subjects would be held in the second half of February 2019 while the core subjects like Mathematics, Biology, Physics, languages etc. will be conducted in March 2019.
According to the notification by CBSE, the reason behind the early conduct of the exams is so that the results for the same could be declared earlier. In 2018, as in previous years, the results for classes 10 and 12 were declared by the end of May. CBSE intention is also to conduct the compartment exams earlier so that students still have an opportunity to apply for admission to Delhi University or any other state university in the same academic year. Usually, the whole exam process of CBSE extends to July or August, by which time admission into various undergraduate programmes closes. In fact, students, who apply for re-evaluation, have to waste an academic year owing to this.
In 2018, over 10. 7 lakhs students registered for the exam, out of which around 10.2 lakhs appeared for the same.
