NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced that it will conduct the CBSE Class 12th supplementary exams from July 15 for those students who have not cleared the exam. A total of 1,22,170 students have been placed in the compartment, as per CBSE 12th result 2024. The number of students who are placed in compartment category is almost similar to last year. In 2023, 7.57% ie., a total of 1,25,705 students were declared failed in one or more subjects and this year too, 7.54% have been placed in compartment category.

The CBSE Board provides a transparent policy wherein students who are not satisfied with the CBSE 12th results will be allowed to apply for reverification, photocopy of answer book, and revaluation of answer sheets.

CBSE compartment exam rules 2024

In accordance with the National Education Policy (NEP 2020), the board has changed the nomenclature of compartment exams to supplementary exams. Further, Class 12 students will be allowed to improve their scores obtained in one subject and Class 10 students will be allowed to improve their marks in two subjects.

The following category of the students will be eligible to appear in the CBSE supplementary exams.

  • Class 10 students who were unable to pass in 2 subjects and Class 12 students who were unable to pass 1 subject and placed in compartment category.
  • Students who were declared by replacing 6th or 7th subject can appear in the failed subject
  • Class 10 and Class 12 students who were declared pass but wish to improve their performance in 2 and 1 subject respectively.

CBSE supplementary exams will be held on the basis of the same syllabus prescribed for the academic year 2023-24.
