CBSE exam paper leak rumours ‘baseless’, board to take legal action after a video goes viral

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has dismissed the of CBSE board exam paper leak rumours and called it “baseless” claims “intended to create unnecessary panic among students and parents”. The clarification comes after the Physics Wallah founder Alakh Pandey’s video titled 'CBSE board exam 2025 paper out' goes viral on social media.

The founder of the EdTech company, Physics Wallah, Alakh Pandey, can be seen in a recent Instagram video asking students to attend his four day classes, starting from February 16, where he promises to discuss the most expected questions in CBSE Board exam 2025. He also claimed to know the people who set the CBSE question paper and expressed confidence that the board paper “will have his questions”.

Notably, the board will conduct the CBSE Class 12 physics exam on February 21 and chemistry on February 27, and Biology on March 25, according to the board exam date sheet. The CBSE Class 10 students will appear for science exam on February 20 and social science on February 25.

The video, which garnered some hundred likes on social media, is now being widely circulated. Following this, the CBSE Board issued a circular addressing the misinformation and exam integrity.

“It has come to the Board's attention that certain unscrupulous elements are spreading rumours on YouTube, Facebook, `X’ (formerly twitter), and other social media platforms regarding paper leaks or claiming access to the 2025 examination question papers…CBSE is actively monitoring and taking action against those responsible for spreading false information,” it said.

The CBSE Board also said that it will take legal actions against the offenders and students who are found involved in such activities. The board had announced strict disciplinary action against the students spreading rumours and relevant action as per the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

It further asked parents to advise their children not to engage in unverified information and clarified that all information regarding the exam will be notified on the official website, cbse.gov.in, and verified public channels.
