CBSE, ISTM collaborate to launch 2-day trainers certification course for resource persons

NEW DELHI: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken a step to empower its educators in alignment with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 recommendations, which mandate 50 hours of continuous professional development for all teachers and head teachers. CBSE has signed an agreement with the Institute of Secretariat Training and Management (ISTM), under the department of personnel and training, ministry of personnel, public grievances and pensions, to conduct a 2-day Training of Trainers (ToT) certification course.

According to the official press release, ISTM, known for its core training skills like Direct Trainers Skills (DTS) and Design of Training (DoT), has designed this course by integrating these core components with approaches to Child and Adolescent Development. The pilot programme of this course was launched today, August 23, 2024, at the ISTM academic block in New Delhi by CBSE Chairman Rahul Singh.

The CBSE chairman highlighted the importance of equipping schools with modern learning methods that align with future workforce requirements. To support India's goal of becoming a developed nation by 2047 and enhancing educational quality, CBSE has launched this initiative aimed at raising training standards, CBSE chairman said.

CBSE plans to train around 15,000 Resource Persons (RPs)

With the support of the MoE, the CBSE plans to train around 15,000 Resource Persons (RPs) in multiple phases. These trained RPs will then address the training needs of 1.3 million teachers across CBSE-affiliated schools.

Experienced teachers in various roles and subjects can register online at cbseit.in/cbse/training/register_rp_new.aspx for this free training. As per the CBSE press release, this course aligns with the competency levels ('Skilled,' 'Advanced,' and 'Expert') outlined in the National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST).

Participants to receive certificate co-signed by CBSE and ISTM

According to the official press release, upon successfully completing the course, participants will receive a certificate co-signed by CBSE and ISTM. The course is designed to equip experts with the necessary techniques and training skills for effective training. It is being held in various cities across India to ensure broad access and participation nationwide.

Himanshu Gupta, secretary of CBSE, emphasized the importance of continuous professional development as outlined in the National Education Policy 2020 and encouraged everyone to take advantage of the trainers’ certification course. Rajiv Manjhi, director of ISTM, also addressed the audience, offering valuable insights on the subjects.
