The Workplace is our section for everything related to work – the search for jobs, internships, new opportunities, skilling, office environments and experiences, pay and benefits, managing finances, moving for work and more. To tell others about your own experiences, we invite you to write to us at The few, simple guidelines to follow are given below along with some notes on our own policy on publication.

Guidelines for submission:

  • Email
  • Submissions should not be longer than 800-1,200 words and the ones selected for publishing will be edited for clarity.

  • Names of companies, firms, individuals may be removed if there are allegations against them.

Given below are the sort of questions we hope can be addressed in The Workplace

  • What would you change about how placements are conducted?
  • What is your experience looking for a job as a fresh graduate?
  • Did you study on a loan? What pressures do you face after graduating?
  • How are (or were) you treated as an intern?
  • What are the best ways to utilise internship opportunities?
  • Are you in a first job you did not want but have come to like? What changed?
  • Do you face difficulty managing your finances? What advice do you have for others?
  • Is there a culture of bullying or harassing new employees where you work?
  • Are you different from the mainstream in a way that you feel turns recruiters away? Tell us about your experience
  • Are you the only woman in a team of men?
  • Tell us about the boss.
  • Do you experience discrimination where you work?
  • Where do you look for support? Can you fall back on your family?
  • How is dissent handled at your workplace?
  • Is your contribution valued in the workplace?
