CBSE Paper Leak: NO Re-Test of Class 10 Maths

NEW DELHI, APRIL 3: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has decided to not conduct the re-examination of Class 10 Maths subject. As per a notification released by CBSE, random evaluation done by the Board so far has not indicated any "sudden spikes or unusual pattern" or given any impression of widespread benefits of the alleged leak to students.

The Board's announcement comes as a huge relief to students and parents who have been protesting against the re-examination all over the country. Justifying its stand to not conduct the re-examination the Board stated, "Class 10 examination is essentially a gateway for Class 11, it thus, remains largely an internal segment of school education system. It is therefore felt that the Board must address the primary concern of a large section of the students. Keeping in mind the paramount interest of students, the Board has taken the considered decision to not hold the re-examination of Class 10 Maths paper even in Delhi NCR and Haryana."

The Board, however, said that action would be taken under the CBSE examination bye laws, in case it is conclusively established that certain beneficiaries have taken undue advantage of the alleged leak.

On March 28, the Board announced to re-conduct the examinations for Economics of class 12 and Mathematics of class 10 after allegations of the paper leak.

The Economics paper of class 12 and Maths of class 10 were held on March 26 and 28, respectively. Both the papers landed into controversy after reports that the question papers of the two subjects were leaked on social media.

On April 1, Delhi Police Crime Branch has arrested two teachers and a tutor from Outer Delhi in connection with the Class 12 Economics examination Paper leak. The re-examination of Class 12 Economics paper will be held on April 25.
