CBSE releases JEE Main 2018 answer key

NEW DELHI, APRIL 24: Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has released the answer key of JEE Main 2018 today, April 24, in online mode. Candidates, who had appeared for the national level engineering entrance test on April 8, 15 and 16 can now check and download the answer key by going to their login account and accessing it. CBSE has also released the OMR response sheets for candidates who have appeared for the offline exam as well as the recorded responses of candidates who have appeared for the online exam. 

The answer key and the response sheets can be downloaded by the candidates till April 27. The exam conducting body has released the answer key for paper I only, while there is no official announcement about the release of JEE Main 2018 answer key for paper II.

In case candidates find any incorrect key or any discrepancy in the answer key, then they can challenge it by providing the proof of their claim by filling an application form and paying the requisite fee by or before 11.59 pm on April 27. 

How to Challenge the Answer Key?

In order to challenge the answer key, the candidates have to log into their JEE Main accounts by entering their application number and date of birth. Post logging in, they have to fill an online application form to challenge the answer key. Apart from filling the application for, candidates are also required to pay Rs. 1,000 per question for challenging the answer key. This non-refundable fee can be paid via credit/debit card, PayTM or SBI Buddy.

After considering all the challenges and feedback, CBSE will release the final answer key which will be binding. No further claim or communication related to the final answer key or decision will be entertained. However, in case the challenges claimed by the candidates are found to be correct, then such candidates will be refunded the fee for those particular questions. The challenges, if found correct, will also be incorporated in the final answer key.

Earlier, various coaching institutes like FIITJEE, Resonance, Allen Kota, T.I.M.E., Plancess, Career Point, Vidyalankar, Aakash Institute, etc. have released the answer key of JEE Main.

What next?

CBSE will declare the result of JEE Main for paper I will be released on April 30, while the result for paper II will be announced on May 30.

Exam Statistics

This year, around 10,43,739 candidates have registered for the offline JEE Main paper for admission to NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. The entrance exam was held across 1621 test centres in 112 cities in India and abroad (104 in India and 8 abroad). Out of the total registered candidates, as many as 6,46,814 were boys, while 266745 were girls and 3 transgenders. The online examination of JEE Main 2018 is slated to be held on April 15 and 16.
