NTA, in its X post, has issued an advisory for NEET (UG) 2026, scheduled on May 3. Candidates must carefully check the exact exam centre address mentioned on their admit card.
The agency warned that some centres may be incorrectly shown on Google Maps, so students should not rely only on map pins. They should verify the address in advance and plan their travel.
The reporting time is 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, and no entry will be allowed after 1:30 PM. Students should also keep extra time for traffic, rain, or other delays.
As per the NTA guidelines, on the NEET 2026 exam day, after the frisking process is complete, candidates will have to undergo a mandatory biometric verification before entering the exam room.
If a candidate’s biometric verification cannot be completed due to device malfunction, poor biometric quality, connectivity issues with UIDAI, or a physical inability to provide biometric data, the candidate will still be allowed to enter the examination room.
However, candidates will be required to submit a written undertaking in the format provided at the exam centre.
The NEET self-declaration form 2026 is issued along with the admit card. Aspirants must take the undertaking along with the NEET admit card 2026 to the centre on the exam day.
As per the official NEET brochure, during the counselling process, the NEET self-declaration of the candidates will be verified as per the norms specified by the medical and dental colleges.
NTA will examine a single afternoon shift from 2 pm to 5 pm. Candidates must reach the NEET exam hall atleast one hour before the paper begins. Students arriving at the centre after 1:30 pm will not be permitted to enter the exam centre. Also, PwD candidates will be eligible for compensatory time.
For NEET UG 2026, NTA has directed aspirants to update their Aadhaar biometric details in advance to avoid any verification-related issues at the examination centre.
Key dress code instructions include:
NTA further said that all candidates will undergo compulsory frisking through high-sensitivity metal detectors before entry. Items strictly prohibited inside the exam hall are:

These include a recent passport-size photograph, a valid ID proof such as a PAN card, driving licence, voter ID, passport, Aadhaar, ration card, or any government-issued document, a PwD certificate if applicable, and the admit card proforma with a postcard-size photograph duly pasted on it.
May 2, 2026 | 08:31 AM IST
The NTA has released detailed guidelines for the smooth conduct of the NEET 2026. The exam will be held from 2 pm to 5 pm, and candidates are required to report to their centres between 11 am and 1:30 pm, as entry will not be permitted beyond this window. Students must carry their admit card, a valid photo ID, and necessary photographs, while adhering to the prescribed dress code by opting for simple attire. The use of electronic devices is strictly prohibited, and biometric verification will be conducted at the exam centre.
May 2, 2026 | 08:00 AM IST
The NEET admit card 2026 will not be sufficient on its own for entry into the examination hall, as the NTA has made it mandatory for candidates to carry a complete set of verification documents.
These include a printed copy of the NEET admit card 2026, one original government-issued photo ID, a passport-size photograph, and the self-declaration form attached with the admit card. Candidates belonging to the PwD category must also carry a valid PwD certificate, if applicable.
Students failing to present any of these documents may face entry-related issues even after successful registration. The NTA has further advised candidates to keep photocopies of all important documents as a precautionary measure.
May 2, 2026 | 07:30 AM IST
Items strictly prohibited inside the exam hall include jewellery and ornaments, belts and wrist watches, goggles or sunglasses, metallic objects, mobile phones or any electronic gadgets, as well as food items and packets.
May 2, 2026 | 07:00 AM IST
In an unusual advisory, NTA has specifically warned students not to rely blindly on Google Maps location pins for their exam centres. Several centre names may appear incorrectly tagged or show nearby landmarks rather than the exact venue gate. Candidates have therefore been asked to physically verify the full address printed on the admit card and, if possible, visit the location one day before the exam. In a high-pressure national test like NEET, getting lost outside the centre can become an avoidable disaster.
May 2, 2026 | 06:00 AM IST
Many students are still asking what the likely neet result 2026 qualifying marks may be, but experts warn that merely crossing the cut-off is academically meaningless for MBBS admissions. With registrations touching 22.79 lakh, the competition for government seats remains brutally high. Students targeting medical colleges must think beyond qualification and aim at score bands that convert into rank advantage. For most government MBBS options, especially in general category, aspirants usually need a score significantly above the bare qualifying threshold.
May 2, 2026 | 04:00 AM IST
The NEET 2026 marking scheme may look simple, but under a competition of nearly 23 lakh students, every negative mark has amplified consequences.
This means random guessing in Physics or Chemistry can seriously hurt overall percentile. Students are being advised to attempt doubtful questions only when elimination gives some confidence.
May 2, 2026 | 03:00 AM IST
The OMR sheet remains one of the most underestimated risk areas in NEET. Students often focus entirely on subject preparation but forget that one incorrectly darkened roll number or booklet code can create a scoring disaster.
NTA’s critical OMR reminders:
Even top-performing candidates can lose rank if technical filling mistakes happen under stress.
May 2, 2026 | 02:00 AM IST
Although the NEET paper will begin only at 2 pm, students should not make the mistake of treating afternoon timing casually. Reporting officially starts at 11 am, and by the time frisking, admit card scanning, biometric authentication, room allotment, and seating are completed, late arrivals could face panic before even opening the question paper. NTA has clearly stated that no entry will be allowed after 1:30 pm. Given traffic, weather disturbances, and huge crowd movement at 552 centres, early reporting could become the difference between a calm exam and a disastrous one.
May 2, 2026 | 01:00 AM IST
NTA’s revised clothing rules indicate that frisking will be more aggressive this year. Candidates have been told to avoid any outfit that contains unnecessary layers, metallic attachments, broad pockets, decorative buttons, or ornaments. Both male and female aspirants are expected to appear in plain, minimal clothing so that security clearance is completed quickly. Simple T-shirts, light trousers, sandals, or slippers remain the safest option. Heavy footwear, belts, jewellery, watches, and fancy hair accessories may invite extra checking and delay.
May 2, 2026 | 12:00 AM IST
The NEET admit card 2026 alone will not be enough for exam hall entry this year as NTA has prescribed a full set of mandatory verification documents.
Candidates must carry:
Students arriving without any one of these may face serious entry issues despite successful registration. NTA has also reminded candidates to keep photocopies as a backup.
May 1, 2026 | 11:00 PM IST
With NEET UG 2026 just days away, the National Testing Agency has made biometric verification one of the strictest parts of exam entry. Every candidate will have to undergo fingerprint and identity authentication after frisking and before entering the examination hall. NTA has advised students to ensure that Aadhaar details are updated because mismatched or unreadable biometric data can delay access. Even though candidates with technical biometric failures will be permitted after signing an undertaking, the process could consume valuable reporting time. For over 22.79 lakh aspirants, this means reaching the venue well before the gate closes is no longer optional but necessary.
