After CBSE tender analysis, Sarthak Siddhant launches government procurement portal

Central Board of Secondary Education, CBSE Class 12 pass-out Sarthak Siddhant has launched an online portal with around 1.66 crore government procurement records to make data easier to access, search and analyse. The portal has compiled procurement records from the Government of India's Central Public Procurement (CPP) portal into a single searchable database. Initiative follows Siddhant's analysis of CBSE's On-Screen Marking tender process that drew national attention. Siddhant says that the project was completed over two weeks by archiving procurement records available on the government's CPP website.

The platform allows users to search, filter and download procurement data for independent analysis. By bringing together records that were previously scattered across multiple pages, the portal aims to reduce the time and effort required to examine government contracts, spending patterns and procurement decisions.

It comes months after Siddhant drew national attention for his analysis of CBSE's digital evaluation tender process. He came into the spotlight after publishing a detailed analysis of the board's On-Screen Marking (OSM) tender process, alleging multiple discrepancies in procurement criteria. His findings were later presented before a Parliamentary Standing Committee and also featured in a Delhi High Court PIL filed by the NSUI seeking an independent inquiry into the OSM system .

Open resource

His latest initiative expands that focus beyond education to government procurement across ministries and departments. Siddhant said the publicly accessible database contains nearly 1.66 crore archived procurement records and has been designed as an open resource for anyone interested in analysing government contracts.

The portal is expected to benefit journalists tracking procurement trends, researchers analysing government expenditure, and citizens seeking greater transparency in the allocation of public funds. By consolidating procurement records into a single platform, it also simplifies the process of examining government spending across departments.
