‘Chalo Sansad’: CJP's march to parliament; Delhi Police says no permission

Ahead of the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) proposed "Chalo Sansad" march, the Delhi Police has issued orders under Section 163 of the BNSS to ensure strict security arrangements are in place, as the Parliament’s monsoon session starts on July 20. On the other hand, CJP has issued an advisory for participants joining the march protest from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament.

Several videos on social media reveal that a massive crowd has already gathered at Jantar Mantar.

The heightened vigil comes as the CJP announced the march in protest against alleged NEET 2026 irregularities, demanding the resignation of Union education minister Dharmendra Pradhan and an overhaul of the education system.

The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Sachin Sharma shared a public advisory on X and said: "Delhi Police categorically clarifies that no permission has been sought or granted for any such protest march/procession. The prohibitory order under Section 163 BNSS (formerly Section 144 CrPC) is currently in effect in the New Delhi district.”

According to DCP’s posts, strict security arrangements are in place to ensure public safety ahead of the monsoon session of the Parliament. Therefore, protest marches and demonstrations of five or more persons are prohibited, except at the designated protest site at Jantar Mantar, with prior permission.

Delhi police has advised citizens to refrain from participating in any unauthorised gathering or march to maintain public peace, safety and security.

Additionally, Visva Bharati University, Kolkata has invited the general public to join the march from Ratanpally to Bolpur Court on July 20.

CJP’s advisory for participants

As preparations gathered pace for the proposed "Chalo Sansad" march from Jantar Mantar to Parliament on July 20 morning, the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) issued a set of guidelines for participants, urging them to maintain discipline and ensure the demonstration remains peaceful and non-violent.

The CJP advisory says that the march will begin at 9 am and lists key do’s and don’ts for protesters. The things allowed to carry include one flag, the Tiranga, a copy of the Constitution, or photographs of national icons such as Dr BR Ambedkar, Mahatma Gandhi, or Bhagat Singh.

• Don't come alone if possible
• Don't misuse the national flag

Delhi Police’s strict surveillance

The Delhi Police have maintained constant surveillance in and around the protest site, while additional personnel have been allotted at strategic locations. Additionally, arrangements have been made to respond to any law-and-order situation, a senior police officer said.

Further, according to the source, security has been strengthened around Jantar Mantar, Parliament Street, Central Vista, Connaught Place, Shankar Chowk and other key installations, while rapid response teams have been positioned to respond to any emergency.

The heightened security arrangements come amid fresh developments at the protest site, where CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke continued his indefinite hunger strike after activist Sonam Wangchuk was taken to the Safdarjung Hospital following deterioration in his health and a Delhi HC order.
