'Jantar Mantar in Every State': CJP after Delhi Police moves Sonam Wangchuk from protest

Slamming the Delhi government over the alleged manhandling of Sonam Wangchuk from Jantar Mantar during the CJP protests, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has appealed to the public to set up a Jantar Mantar in every state and continue the agitation.

“He is not a criminal. Why did you drag him away hiding behind sheets?”, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) said, stating that Sonam Wangchuk was not willing to go to hospital, he wanted to join the parliament march, scheduled for July 20.

“What these police have done- he was not a criminal. The way they took him away hidden under sheets- if you were so concerned about his health, you should have taken him with respect,” the party said.

Students Islamic group extend support to CJP

Moreover, the Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has also condemned the attack on the protesting students at Jantar Mantar by the Delhi Police. Adbul Hafeez, national president of SIO also visited the protesting site and expressed solidarity with the agitators.

The support from the students islamic group comes a day after the activist and educator Sonam Wangchuk, including several other protesters were allegedly dragged by the Delhi Police at Jantar Mantar.

“Such high-handed action against a peaceful protest reflects a deeply disturbing insensitivity towards citizens exercising their constitutional right to dissent,” SIO said in an official statement.

“We stand firmly with Sonam Wangchuk and all the protesting students, and reiterate that peaceful voices demanding justice must be heard, not silenced through coercion,” it added.

No medication without family's approval: Wangchuk's wife to Safdarjung hospital

In addition, Wangchuk’s wife has urged the Medical Superintendent of Safdarjung Hospital to discharge Wangchuk and requested that no oral medication or intravenous (IV) treatment should be given without the family’s consent.

Wangchuk, who was on a hunger strike at Jantar Mantar, was shifted to a hospital on Saturday after his vitals were dropped down to below normal on day 21 of the protest.

The Delhi Police, in an official statement, stated: "As per orders of Hon'ble High Court and on expert medical advise due to the deteriorating health condition of Sh. Sonam Wangchuk, he has been shifted to the hospital for essential medical care.”

Explaining their side of the story during the protest, the Delhi Police stated that they took extreme restraint and removed the agitators safely.
