New Delhi: The Consortium of NLUs has released a notification where it has informed that the computer-based, online, centre-based test will be now conducted at 203 locations, instead of the previously stated 67 locations. The consortium hasn’t yet released the names of these additional test centres, saying that the final list of locations will be released in early August.
Earlier, the consortium had notified that the CLAT 2020 exam will be conducted in online centre-based mode on August 22. In the same notification, it had also stated that they are planning to add more test locations to the existing 67 locations.
Rationale behind adding more CLAT 2020 test locations
-
If the number of test locations remains at 67, which was the number for the pen & paper examination, then each exam centre would have to accommodate a large number of candidates. This would make maintaining social distancing norms, as prescribed by health officials and the government as a protection against COVID-19.
-
To address the problem of large gatherings at exam centres, the consortium decided to increase the number of test centres, so the crowd gets spread out.
-
The number of CLAT 2020 test locations has been increased to 203 locations from existing 67 locations.
-
Another advantage of additional CLAT 2020 test centres is now most candidates can opt for a test centre near their homes. This will cut down on travel and exposure time; so chances of getting infected would also get reduced.
-
The candidate will be able to select any three preferred test locations from out of the 203 locations till July 10, 2020.
Release of final list of locations
The list of final 203 test locations will be announced in the first half of August after taking into account preferences opted by the candidate and centre viability.
