NEW DELHI: Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU) has declared CLAT 2020 result at consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The direct CLAT result link is available on this page. To check the CLAT result 2020 and merit list, candidates must login using their mobile number and password. The consolidated Merit List of CLAT-2020 has been released on the Consortium’s official website.

Top colleges other than NLUs that will accept CLAT scores

While the NLUs tend to be the first choice of most candidates, there are a host of other good options like Amity University, UP, Bennett University (Times of India Group), and Kalinga University that will also offer admission based on CLAT scores. These colleges that accept CLAT scores are called affiliate colleges.

CLAT result 2020: Interesting facts

This year, CLAT result declaration was contentious. Many students raised objections to the answers key published by the consortium. However, prof Faizan Mustafa later cleared all the doubts by saying that all aspects of CLAT 2020 were closely examined. Here are some interesting facts on CLAT 2020 result.

  • Only 19 candidates were able to score more than 100. The highest CLAT marks were 127.25 in UG Law.
  • In CLAT LLM result, the highest marks were 72. Two candidates score 72 marks.
  • The CLAT cut off for admissions are expected low as candidates have scored fewer marks this year.
  • After CLAT result declaration, many candidates would receive the counselling call letters. Those who do not receive the counselling letter may receive in 2nd or 3rd round.
  • The premier law school, NLSIU Banglore will offer 120 seats in BA LLB. Last year it offered only 80 seats.

CLAT 2020: Admission counselling rules you must know

The CLAT counselling starts with the registration. The candidates are expected to follow certain guidelines while appearing in the CLAT 2020 counselling. These are;

  • Online registration is mandatory for all candidates who are invited for the CLAT counselling.
  • Candidates must give NLU preferences. If the preferences are not updated, the preferences given in at the time of application form will be considered.
  • NLU choices once given will not be changed
  • Candidates will be considered for admissions to only those NLUs for which they have applied by providing preferences.
  • only those candidates who have registered for counselling will be considered for seat allotment.
  • Those who do not participate in the counselling process will not be given admissions to the National Law Universities.
  • Candidates who do not receive the counselling invitation in the first round may be called in the subsequent round.
  • Those who have been allotted seats must accept the admission offer by locking their seat online.
  • Candidates may also apply for upgrade for a better NLU or may choose the exit from the admission process.

CLAT 2020: Counselling process released

Along with CLAT result, the NLU Consortium has released the counselling instructions. The counselling registration can be done in two steps;

  • Updating NLU preference
  • Online payment of Rs 50,000

Candidates who successfully complete the CLAT counselling registration process will be called for seat allotment. The first seat allotment will be released on October 9.

CLAT 2020: Petition filed in Supreme Court for quashing the exam

On October 4, 2020, some CLAT aspirants have filed a petition in the Supreme Court asking to quash the exam and directing the consortium of NLUs to re-conduct the same. The petitioners have stated that the conduct of the CLAT 2020 exam violated Articles 14 and 15.

CLAT result: Know tie breaker methodology for inter-se-merit

CLAT result 2020 will be declared anytime on consortiumofnlus.ac.in. The authorities have released the tie breaker methodology for candidates who have the same scores. This is to compute the all India Rank that will be mentioned in the CLAT 2020 result. The tie breaking methodology is given below. Candidates will be ranked higher as per the following rules in the given order.

  • Candidate who score more marks in Legal Aptitude section.
  • Candidate older in age will be ranked higher if the tie still persists
  • A computerized draw of lots will be used to rank candidates if the tie still persists.

CLAT 2020 result: 2569 UG seats available as per CLAT seat matrix

After declaration CLAT result , the 22 participating NLUs will start counselling. Around 2738 seats in integrated LLB courses will be filled on the basis of the CLAT 2020 result. NLSIU Banglore has increased the BA LLB seats this year from 80 to 120 and these will be filled on the basis of the ranks obtained in CLAT result 2020. Domicile and EWS reservation have been introduced by many NLUs.

CLAT 2020 result and merit list

The consortium of NLUs will release the CLAT merit list along with the CLAT 2020 result. A common merit list for all candidates will be released. In addition, a separate CLAT category wise merit list will also be released with the CLAT result 2020. The merit list will mention roll numbers of all candidates who appeared in the examination along with their CLAT scores, category and rank.
