NEW DELHI: The national law entrance exam, CLAT 2021, may get postponed again due to the COVID-19 situation and subsequent lockdown in various parts of the country. The conducting body, Consortium of National Law Universities (CNLU), had earlier announced the CLAT 2021 exam date will be released in the first week of May. However, there is no official update regarding the exam date yet.
Earlier, the CLAT 2021 was scheduled to be held on June 13, 2021. However, in a notification released on April 19, 2021 , the consortium said that the exam date will be decided in the first week of May 2021, only after reviewing the pandemic situation. The CLAT 2021 application form will be closed on May 15, 2021.
As of now, the Maharashtra government has extended the lockdown in the state till June 1, so the chances of conducting CLAT on June 13 is unlikely.
Uncertainty over other law entrance exams
There are many other law entrance exams that are scheduled to be held in the month of June. However, given the pandemic situation, it is highly likely that these exams may be postponed. Other than CLAT, the National Law University Delhi’s entrance exam, AILET 2021 is also scheduled to be held on June 20, 2021. The Symbiosis International University (SIU) has also planned to conduct the Symbiosis Law Aptitude Test (SLAT) 2021, on June 27, 2021.
Meanwhile, the students are advised to keep checking the official websites of the universities to get official notifications regarding the postponement and keep preparing for the exams.
Many other exams have been postponed
Many other entrance exams such as JEE Main , UGC NET that were scheduled to be held in May or June 2021, have been postponed to the next date. Even the Civil Services Examination (CSE) of the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) which was scheduled to be held on June 27, 2021, has been postponed till October 10. So, the possibility of CLAT postponement has only increased.
