CLAT 2026 Paper Analysis: 'English easy, quant tricky', say students

The Consortium of National Law Universities (Consortium of NLUs) conducted the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2026) today, December 7, from 2 pm to 4 pm at 141 exam cities across the country. According to the CLAT paper analysis, the paper was moderate. The English section was the easiest, while logical reasoning was found to be the most challenging section. Most of the questions were based on legal reasoning topics.

The CLAT question paper consists of 120 multiple-choice questions, each carrying 1 mark. As per the CLAT marking scheme, 0.25 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.

For CLAT 2026, given the overall difficulty level, attempting around 105 questions would be considered good, provided candidates maintain high accuracy to minimise negative marking. The exact number may vary depending on the individual's strength in different sections.

CLAT 2026: Student’s reaction or feedback

In the CLAT 2026 exam, the English section was easy, but it had long questions and many 'vocabulary problems', and the quant section had tricky but manageable questions, one of the CLAT test takers said. He noted that some questions of legal reasoning were a bit confusing.

Another student said that the Quant section was the toughest and longest among the other sections. In terms of complexity, the questions were moderate. The arithmetic was challenging. There were some unexpected themes, and the current affairs were mediocre.
