The Consortium of NLUs will publish the CLAT 2026 provisional answer key on the official website, consortiumofnlus.ac.in, tomorrow at 5 pm. According to students' reactions, the CLAT 2026 paper was 'moderate' in difficulty level, and the quant section was 'trickier' than others.

Candidates can raise objections to the provisional answer key, if any, until December 12 at 5 pm. The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) conducted the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2026) for LLB and LLM admissions on December 7 across 56 centres in 25 States, 93 cities, and 4 Union Territories across the country.

This exam recorded a significant turnout, with 96.83% of undergraduate applicants and 92.45% of postgraduate applicants taking the exam.

All twenty-five NLUs across the country will admit students to their BA LLB and LLM courses based on the CLAT scores through a counselling process.

For CLAT 2026, 92,344 candidates applied, marking a 17% rise from last year. Of these, 75,009 registered for the UG programme and 17,335 for the PG programme. The overall male–female ratio is about 0.72:1. In the CLAT 2026 exam, 548 candidates participated under the PwD category.

CLAT Exam 2026: Highlights

The CLAT question paper 2026 has 120 multiple-choice questions carrying 1 mark each. A negative marking of 0.25 marks will be applied for each incorrect response, as per the CLAT marking scheme.

Candidates have to attempt all questions within a duration of two hours, from 2 pm to 4 pm; however, PwD candidates are given an additional 40 minutes to answer the questions.

Those allotted Lucknow exam centre have been shifted to Lucknow Public College, A-Block, Rajajipuram.

All candidates who qualify for the entrance exam are required to register again for the CLAT UG, PG counselling. Students will be allowed to submit 15 preferences during each round of the counselling process.

Last year, aspirants opposed the “unreasonable” objection fee of Rs 1,000 per question challenged. Student representatives approached the Consortium this year as well. However, their request to lower the existing application fee - Rs 4,000 for general and Rs 3,500 for the reserved category – is yet to be addressed.

Notably, the CLAT UG and PG counselling fee costs Rs 30,000 for general and Rs 20,000 for SC, ST, OBC, and PwD categories.

CLAT 2026 Results: CLAT college predictor

CLAT rank predictors and college predictors use previous years’ admission data to estimate likely ranks and give candidates an idea of the NLUs where they may secure a BA LLB or BBA LLB seat. These tools analyse past cut-offs, category-wise seat trends, preference flow and changes in competition to indicate the institutes that may fall within a candidate’s expected range. While not an official indicator, they help students plan counselling choices, understand how their score may translate into a rank and assess the likelihood of admission across different NLUs based on historical patterns.
