• Candidates are permitted to carry/retain the QB and the candidate’s copy of the OMR response sheet after the test.

During the CLAT 2026 registration process, several NLU students demanded a response from the Consortium of NLUs regarding the long-pending request to review application and counselling fees.

Students argued that the CLAT application fee — Rs 4,000 for general and Rs 3,500 for SC, ST, PwD — and the counselling fee of Rs 30,000 to Rs 20,000 remain high and create financial barriers for many aspirants. Representations have been submitted multiple times, but students say the Consortium has not yet provided any clarification or addressed the issue. 

CLAT 2026 carries a total of 120 marks. For each correct answer will be awarded 1 mark. For every wrong answer, 0.25 marks will be deducted as negative marking. There is no deduction for unanswered questions. 

To appear for CLAT 2026, candidates should only carry the things listed below. 

• Back or blue ballpoint pens
• A transparent water bottle
• An analogue watch

The dress code for CLAT is simple and modest for both male and female students.

Male students should wear plain T-shirts or shirts with trousers. Male students should avoid jeans with metal attachments, watches, caps, or accessories. Prefer open slippers or sandals instead of shoes.

Female candidates should prefer plain kurtis, tops with trousers, or salwar suits and avoid jewellery, scarves, and high heels. Footwear should be simple, preferably slippers or sandals.

After receiving clarification from the ministry of social justice, the Consortium of NLUs has restored previous PwD guidelines for scribe eligibility and additional time. The officials withdrew the stricter rules and allowed greater flexibility in selecting scribes along with special assistance during the exam.

NALSAR Hyderabad has asked Scheduled Caste (SC) applicants to update their reservation criteria on the admissions portal ahead of CLAT 2026 counselling. To prevent delay in the admission process, the university has advised candidates to upload valid caste certificates issued by authorised state authorities.

The Consortium has changed the CLAT 2026 exam centre for Lucknow candidates due to administrative reasons. Those who were allotted Pt Deen Dayal Upadhyay Government Girls PG college, Section 11, Rajajipuramm, near the new taxi stand, Lucknow have been shifted to Lucknow Public College, A-Block, Rajajipuram, Lucknow, 226017.

Both CLAT UG and PG entrance exams will be conducted for a duration of two hours from 2 pm to 4 pm. PwD candidates will be given an additional 40 minutes to attempt the two-hour exam, as per the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD) Comprehensive Guidelines.

The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT 2026) will be conducted from 2 pm to 4 pm today at 141 exam centres across the country.
