The Consortium of National Law Universities (NLUs) has announced changes to the reservation categories for NLU Meghalaya and the West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences (WBNUJS), Kolkata, for the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) 2027. Candidates who have applied under the respective domicile categories have been advised to review the revised seat matrix and update their reservation category, wherever applicable, by October 31, 2026.

The CLAT 2027 application form was opened on August 3, 2026, and candidates can submit their applications until October 31, 2026. The CLAT 2027 entrance examination is scheduled to be held on December 6, 2026, from 2 pm to 4 pm in offline mode.

For NLU Meghalaya, three reservation categories have been added for both undergraduate (UG) and postgraduate (PG) programmes. These include Khasi & Jaintia of Meghalaya, Garo of Meghalaya and other Scheduled Castes or Other Scheduled Tribes of Meghalaya.
Candidates who have applied under the Meghalaya Domicile category and meet the eligibility criteria can update their reservation category through their CLAT account.
For WBNUJS, Kolkata, the reservation categories for West Bengal domicile candidates have also been revised for both UG and PG programmes. The OBC-A and OBC-B categories of West Bengal have been removed, while the OBC of West Bengal has been added.
Candidates who had applied under OBC-A or OBC-B are advised to check the revised seat matrix and update their category if they are eligible under the revised category.
Candidates can update their reservation category by logging into their CLAT account and clicking on the ‘Edit Application Form’ option. They should then open the ‘Reservations’ tab and select the relevant National Law University.
For NLU Meghalaya, candidates must answer the question asking whether they are a domicile of Meghalaya and select the applicable reservation category from the drop-down menu. For WBNUJS, candidates must confirm their West Bengal domicile status and select the applicable category. Candidates should then click on the ‘Save/Submit’ button to record the changes.
