11th N. J. Yasaswy Moot Court Competition 2026: NMIMS Bengaluru and Bharathi Vidyapeeth Pune finish as first and second runners-up

The Institute of Chartered Financial Analysts of India (ICFAI) Law School, Hyderabad, hosted the 11th N. J. Yasaswy Memorial Moot Court Competition 2026, which concluded on September 6 at the institute’s campus. Parul Institute of Law, Parul University emerged as the winner of the competition. SVKM NMIMS, School of Law, Bengaluru, secured the first runner-up position.
New Law College, Bharathi Vidyapeeth (deemed to be a university), Pune, was named the second runner-up. The competition offered a total cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
The three-day competition was held from September 4 to 6, bringing together law students from institutions across the country to showcase their advocacy, research and legal reasoning skills.

The valedictory ceremony was attended by Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana, as the Guest of Honour, and Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao, Judge, High Court for the State of Telangana, as the Chief Guest.
Addressing the gathering, Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar spoke about the growing representation of women in the legal profession and said that this progress should inspire young law students. He urged students to work hard, stay committed to their goals and make meaningful contributions to the legal profession.
Justice Gadi Praveen Kumar also highlighted the importance of Articles 14 and 19 of the Constitution of India, particularly their role in protecting equality and fundamental freedoms. He further spoke about Part IV of the Constitution, which contains the Directive Principles of State Policy and provides guiding principles for achieving social and economic justice.
Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao spoke about the importance of gender equality and its recognition since ancient times. He said that law students today have greater opportunities for their overall development, which is important for their future careers in the legal profession.
He also expressed high expectations from the Generation Z students who will go on to become advocates, legal academicians and judges. Referring to the legal maxim, “one who comes to the court must come with clean hands,” he emphasised that honesty and integrity should remain central to the practice of law.
Justice Suddala Chalapathi Rao concluded by wishing the participating students success in their future endeavours and expressing his trust in the younger generation.
Pujari Ravisekhararaju, Director, ICFAI Law School, Hyderabad, delivered the presidential remarks and reflected on the three-day competition. Vijender Kumar, Director General, Law School, Hyderabad, encouraged students to value the knowledge and skills gained through the competition and carry forward the spirit of excellence and continuous learning.
The event was also attended by Sobha Rani Yasaswy, Chairperson, ICFAI Society; Sayan Das, Coordinator, Moot Court Society, ICFAI Law School; and Sridevi D. Shet, faculty members and students.
