To register for CLAT counselling 2026 , candidates from the general category have to pay Rs 30,000, while other candidates have to pay Rs 20,000 as the registration fee. CLAT counselling 2026 process includes registration, payment of counselling fee, filling and locking choices, and accepting the seat allotted.
As per the CLAT 2026 counselling schedule, the round 1 allotment list will be issued on January 7, and candidates will have to pay the admission fee and confirm the seats allotted between January 7 and 15.

CLAT Counselling 2026: Admission Process
A candidate who will be allotted a seat at any NLU can exercise any of the ‘freeze’, ‘float’, or ‘exit’ options in the counselling rounds.
Freeze option : Candidates not satisfied with the allotted seat, accept it, and are not interested in participating in further rounds of seat allocation, can ‘freeze’ the seat allocation.
Float option : Candidates who have been allotted their first preference NLU and choose to leave ‘open’ the possibility of getting a higher preference NLU seat, they may choose the ‘float’ option.
Exit option : If at any time after completing the registration process, a candidate does not want to participate in the counselling, can choose to ‘exit’ the admissions counselling process.
