Kerala University Vice Chancellor Mohanan Kunnummal suspended Registrar K S Anil Kumar for cancelling an event featuring the Governor amid a row over a Bharat Mata portrait. The Registrar claimed the notice was issued before the Governor’s arrival.
The three-year interdisciplinary project, commencing in July 2025, aims to bridge heritage, culture and technology by documenting Ladakhi folk practices through academic collaboration, an official AUD statement said.
The suspension order was issued to students who were involved in the April 11, 2025 incident that took place near the main gate of the Kashmere Gate Campus.
The agreement aims to foster mutual cooperation and facilitate academic collaboration in areas of teaching, research, student and faculty exchange, and joint educational initiatives between the two institutions.
The Registrar, on June 25, cancelled the sanction granted to Sree Padmanabha Seva Samithi for the use of the University Senate Hall after the programme had commenced and while the Governor was on stage.
The incident took place at the People's Education Society's (PES) Engineering College on Monday, following which principal Abhijit Wadekar lodged a complaint at the Cantonment police station, said a police official.
Police said the body has been sent for post-mortem and further investigation is underway. Students and hostel staff believe Sarthak Khanna's fall was an accident.
