As per the official IIIT Delhi statement, the project is jointly led by Angshul Majumdar and Emilie Chouzenoux, and is part of a broader India-France research collaboration between Deep Light (Delhi) and CentraleSupélec, a French engineering school.
The students raised concerns over caste-based discrimination, lack of representation of marginalised communities in faculty positions and top administrative posts, and their "exclusion" from hiring in top multinational corporations.
"We are relieved and heartened by prof Ali Khan Mahmudabad being granted interim bail by the Hon'ble Supreme Court. It has provided great comfort to his family and all of us at Ashoka University," the university said in a statement.

Satnam Singh Sandhu, chancellor of Chandigarh University and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) said that the university has always remained aligned with the spirit of nation first and terminated all its educational ties with Turkey and Azerbaijan.
