The chief minister said the state is emerging as an educational hub, with MBBS seats rising from a few earlier to 400 now. It currently has one government medical college, one society-run facility and one private institute.
The NMC has flagged serious concerns in these institutions, including inadequate or non-existent infrastructure, instances of harassment of Indian students, excessive fees, and denial of refunds.
Proposed under the new NEP, the Higher Education Commission of India (HECI) aims to replace the UGC, AICTE and NCTE.
