NEW DELHI: The Federation of Central Universities Teachers' Association (FECUTA) has requested more time for submission of theses for PhD and M Phil research scholars.

Rajib Ray, president and D K Lobiyal, secretary, FECUTA have written to the minister for human resource development, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ stating that the researchers and academics have been badly hit due to the nation-wide lockdown imposed to control the spread of coronavirus.

The lockdown has prevented research scholars from accessing laboratories and libraries, except for a few e-resources. Field work has come to a standstill.

Besides the FECUTA also emphasized that the conditions in the world outside are also affecting the peace and focus of researchers and hampering their work.
The FECUTA has requested the HRD minister to give an extension of six months for submission of thesis to PhD and M Phil research scholars of universities across the country.
