West Bengal New Covid Guidelines: Administrative activities will be allowed in edu sector

NEW DELHI: West Bengal schools will remain closed till January 31, 2022, as the government extended the Covid restrictions in the state to the end of the month. Administration of all educational institutions is permitted to function with half of the staff capacity, reported PTI.
“All educational institutions including schools, colleges and universities in the state will remain shut till January 31. Only administrative activities will be allowed in educational institutions with 50 per cent staff members at a time,” said an order from the West Bengal government.

The West Bengal government has also permitted fairs on open grounds with limitations, in a restricted manner following all Covid protocols. West Bengal also permitted marriage functions to be conducted, but with a maximum of 200 people, or 50 per cent seating capacity, whichever is less.

“The government has also banned outdoor activities such as movement of individuals and vehicles between 10 PM and 5 AM. But exceptions are made for essential services like health, law and order, transport of essential commodities and emergency services,” said the PTI report.
The West Bengal government, on January 3, 2022, had shut all educational institutions in view of the surge in Covid cases across the state. All other offices were permitted to function with 50 per cent workforce.
