CSIR NET June 2024 result soon on csirnet.nta.ac.in; normalization method

NEW DELHI: The National Testing Agency (NTA) will declare the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research - National Eligibility Test (CSIR NET) June 2024 result soon. Candidates who appeared for the June edition will be able to download the CSIR NET result 2024 from the official website, csirnet.nta.ac.in. CSIR UGC NET 2024 was held from July 25 to 27 in two shifts. Over 2.25 lakh students registered for the exams.

NTA CSIR NET result 2024 will be announced for five papers – earth, atmospheric, ocean and planetary sciences, physical sciences, life sciences, mathematical science, and chemical sciences.

CSIR NET result July 2024 will be prepared based on the final answer key which will be issued after examining candidates’ challenges to the provisional key. CSIR NET June 2024 answer key was released on the official website on August 8 and candidates were allowed to raise objections by August 11.

CSIR NET is conducted twice every year for award of Junior Research Fellowship (JRF), appointment of assistant professor in universities and colleges, and admission to PhD programmes.

CSIR NET June 2024 Result: Normalization method

The exam agency will use normalization method to prepare CSIR NET results as the tests were held in more than one shift. The step-by-step normalization procedure is as follows:

Step-1 : Distribution of Examinees in two shifts

Candidates will be distributed into two sessions randomly so that each session has approximately equal number of candidates. The two sessions would be as follows:

Session-1: Day-1 Shift-1
Session-2: Day-1 Shift-2

In case, there are more number of days or less number of shifts, the candidates will be divided accordingly. This will ensure that there is no partiality in the distribution of candidates.

Step-2: Preparation of results for each session

The examination results for each session would be prepared in the form of

Raw scores
Percentiles scores of total raw scores

The percentiles would be calculated for each candidate in the session as follows:

Let TP1 be the percentile scores of total raw score of that candidate.

Total Percentile (TP1) : 100 * Number of candidates appeared from the session with raw score equal to or less than t1 score / Total number of candidates appeared in the session

Step-3: Compilation of NTA score and preparation of result:

The percentile scores for the total raw score for all the sessions as calculated in the second step would be merged and shall be called the NTA scores which will then be used for compilation of result and further processing for deciding the allocation.

In case the percentiles for the multi-shifts are dissimilar or unequal, the lowest will be the eligibility cut-off for that category for all candidates. For example, in an the examination held in two shifts, if the 40% marks correspond to a percentile score of 78 in shift 1 and 79 in shift 2, then all those equal to or above 78 percentiles (percentile score of 100 to 78) in both shifts will become eligible in general category.
