A common online counselling portal to be developed by NTA and NIC in consultation with the participating universities of CUCET.
NEW DELHI : The Central Universities Common Entrance Test (CUCET), set to be held from this year, is likely to have a common e-counselling portal for admitting students to 41 participating central universities, says the report submitted by the seven-member committee led by RP Tiwari, Vice-Chancellor, Central University of Punjab.
The National Testing Agency (NTA) along with NIC in consultation with the universities will be handed over the responsibility to develop the common e-counselling platform.
The committee recommended that the different education boards will have their examinations at different times and the declaration of result timings will be impacted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Therefore, flexibility for the same should be considered in the e-counselling platform.
However, the report also suggests that if there is a shortage of time for this session, then the individual universities can continue with their existing counselling process.
The recommendations also include common eligibility criteria for admission to all the participating universities at different levels of programmes.
CUCET is expected to be held by June end. The results in the form of the All India merit list will be published in the month of July. The CUCET All India merit list will be prepared based on the percentile rank and percentile score.
“The seat allocation is to be displayed to all candidates till such time the payment for securing admission has been made and admission granted to that candidate or until all seats for any particular subject at any particular university are filled,” says the report.
The committee’s proposal has also recommended that CUCET should be held twice a year , starting from 2021, in online mode.
