NEW DELHI: The Deccan Education Society has launched the Deccan Education Society Pune University (DESPU) which will have five schools and offer 21 programmes.
The university will offer courses in commerce, management, science, mathematics, engineering and technology, humanities, social sciences, design and arts.
The DES said the new university will follow the guidelines of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. Students will be offered a four-year degree honours programme that will have scope for research. “Students can also switch between universities and accumulate more credits to fulfil the requirements for their respective academic credit banks (160 minimum),” it added.
The students will also have the multiple exit option to exit from the programmes. If a student leaves at the end of year one, he/she will receive a certification. Those exiting after the second year will get a diploma and the students leaving after the third year will be awarded a degree. Candidates finishing all four years will get an honours degree.
Special Placement cell at DESU
The university will have a specialised division for corporate relations, which aims to offer 100% placement assistance through career counselling and skill-development workshops. “By 2028, the aim is to be a leading private university in Pune. By 2030, DES Pune University hopes to be among the top 100 universities in India,” the DES added.
