NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 14: Deputy Chief Minister of Delhi, Manish Sisodia in his capacity as education minister has announced that steps will be taken soon to convert Delhi Institute of Hotel Management (DIHM) into a university. The objective is to provide world-class and high-quality courses in the field of tourism and hospitality.
During his recent visit to the institute, Sisodia declared that all possible steps would be taken to convert DIHM into a state university. Various measures will be taken to ensure the growth and autonomy of the institute as well.
Sisodia observed that the infrastructure of the institute was in shambles and certain portions of a building of the institute need to be repaired swiftly. The Deputy CM of Delhi directed the chief engineer of DTTDC to prepare an estimate for the repair work quickly.
With an aim to ease the financial woes of the institute, the principal secretary of Tourism is likely to bring forth a proposal with regard to providing a special grant to the institute.
If the institute turns into a full-fledged university, then it will prove to be a boon for all those students who are aspiring to make their career in the hospitality and tourism sector.
