Delhi Vs Punjab: Manish Sisodia invites Pargat Singh for public debate on education model

In a series of tweets, the Punjab education minister said how Punjab is doing better in education than Delhi and there is a revolution going in education in the state.

NEW DELHI: Delhi education minister Manish Sisodia on Thursday invited his Punjab counterpart Pargat Singh for a public debate on the education models of the two governments. He also proposed a joint visit to 10 government schools each in Punjab and Delhi.

"I'd like to invite Education Minister of Punjab Pargat Singh Official to jointly visit 10 Delhi government schools which we have reformed in the last five years and 10 Punjab govt schools which his government has reformed in five years," Sisodia said. "Then let's have a public debate on the education models of Delhi and Punjab," he said on Twitter.

Punjab education minister told Delhi chief minister Arvind Kejriwal that there is a revolution going in education in Punjab. “It is another matter that you missed it. It is understandable for a Delhiite whose interest in Punjab is aroused only around elections. #EducationRevolutionInPunjab,” he wrote on Twitter.

He further said, “Punjab topped the country in school education in National Performance Grade Index (NPGI) in the most recent survey.Delhi came 6th.Punjab was above Delhi on all 5 parametres-learning outcomes,Access,Infrastructure & Facilities ,Equity and Governance in the survey.”

In a series of tweets, the Punjab minister said how Punjab is doing better in education than Delhi.

“Pupil to Teacher ratio in Punjab govt schools is 24.5:1 compared to 35:1 in Delhi.15% of Delhi govt schools have an adverse pupil to teacher ratio compared to less than 4% in Punjab.Please fill up Delhi schools before worrying about Punjab,” he added.

Accepting Manish Sisodia's invite for a public debate on education model, the Punjab minister said, "I welcome the education minister of Delhi Manish Sisodia's suggestion to compare Punjab government schools with Delhi Schools. However, we will take 250 schools each of Punjab and Delhi instead of 10 schools."

While the Delhi chief minister said, “Punjab education minister says schools in Punjab are best in the country, teachers are very happy. Those who are happy with Punjab's schools and current education system, vote for Congress. Vote for us who want a brilliant education system like Delhi in Punjab also.”
