DU Admission 2021: Over 14,000 students applied through ECA; 8,238 through sports
Registrations for DU admissions 2021 closed on August 31. Of 4.38 lakh students who applied for admissions, most of them are from CBSE board.

NEW DELHI: The registration for Delhi University admission 2021 commenced on August 2 and closed on August 31. Over 4.38 lakh students have applied for various undergraduate courses through the DU admission portal .
According to the statistics provided by the dean of students’ welfare, almost 14,000 candidates have applied for admission through the Extra Curricular Activities (ECA) quota which includes National Cadet Corps (NCC), debate (English), quiz, music (vocal), NSS, fine arts, theatre, dance, creative writing, and debate (Hindi). Maximum number of students applied through NCC.
On the other hand, 8,238 students have registered for admissions through the sports quota including sports such as athletics, football, basketball, volleyball, cricket, kabaddi, taekwondo, badminton, handball, and kho-kho. Maximum number of candidates registered through athletics game, as per the official statistics.

While 2,77,498 students who registered for DU admissions 2021 belonged to several boards like CBSE, CISCE, Haryana board, UP Board, Kerala board, Rajasthan board, Bihar board, National Institute of Open Learning (NIOS), Madhya Pradesh board, and Jammu and Kashmir board, the highest number of students were from CBSE board.
Moreover, category-wise, almost 2.80 lakh students applied, of which most of the number came from the female unreserved category (UR), according to the official stats.
Furthermore, students of Delhi were at the top position with 1.15 applications for DU admission along with other states such as Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Kerala, Bihar, Rajasthan, Uttarakhand, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand, and West Bengal making a total of 2.65 applicants.

The first DU cut-off list 2021 can be expected around October 1 according to the officials as by then, the CBSE improvement and compartment exams will be concluded.
