The University of Delhi has also increased the number of undergraduate seats from 66,263 seats to 69,554 seats. The reason for the increase in the number of seats is the addition of 3291 supernumerary seats. These supernumerary seats are divided into two categories which are 1216 ECA seats and 2075 sports seats.
All DU affiliated colleges have to reserve 5% of their seats for candidates seeking admission through ECA and sports quota.
Most of the undergraduate DU seats are offered through merit-based procedures. However for only 12 programmes, the admission is done through entrance examination.
