NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi while attending the closing ceremony of the centenary celebration of the University of Delhi (DU) today, June 30, said DU is not just a university, but a “movement”. The university has been present in all the movements and has brought life to every movement. DU's closing ceremony of the centenary celebrations were also attended by the minister of education and minister of skill development and entrepreneurship, Dharmendra Pradhan. PM Modi had come to DU’s North Campus by Delhi Metro.

The prime minister further added that Delhi University has completed 100 years when the nation is celebrating 75 years of Independence.

The prime minister also reiterated the motto of the university -- Nishtha Dhriti Satyam – meaning “dedication, steadfastness and truth” and said it describes the university’s underlying effort toward nation-building.

The prime minister also virtually laid the foundation stone of three buildings in the campus and released a set of coffee table books. These buildings were set up for a computer centre, a faculty of technology, and one academic block. These will be 7+1 storeyed (eight floors) with state-of-the-art infrastructure.

PM Modi also attended an exhibition at the university campus today. A working model of a Mars rover, semiconductors and sustainable bamboo products made by student startups were part of the exhibition at the Delhi University for prime minister Narendra Modi's visit.
