DU, Leeds University UK partner to exchange mobility, promote research

Download NowThe University of Delhi (DU) has signed an agreement with Leeds University, United Kingdom (UK), to exchange mobility and research activities. The partnership aims to expand student and faculty exchange programmes as well as research initiatives.

The Delhi University agreement is a step towards the twinning programme as laid down by the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020. The programme will allow students from both universities to spend one semester at the partner university.
Leeds University UK vice chancellor and president, Shearer West, noted that there is a growing interest in students at Leeds to opt for India as a study abroad destination for postgraduate and doctoral studies. She hopes that this partnership will help in facilitating student exchange.
DU vice chancellor, Yogesh Singh, talked about having faculty members from Leeds University as adjunct faculty at Delhi University. This move could provide beneficial international exposure to both students and teachers, according to Singh.

Delhi University-Leeds University agreement
The agreement was signed between Singh and West, at the Vice Regal Lodge, Delhi University , on June 26, 2025. Some of the key officials present at the occasion were Piruthivi Sukumar, professor of global engagement and education, faculty of medicine and health, Ian Wood, professor of molecular neuroscience and pro-dean international for biosciences, Krystyna Kowalska, regional development manager for South Asia and Southeast Asia.
Other officials in attendance were Shweta Datt, country advisor, Leeds University India Representative Office, Anil Rai, dean international relations, Delhi University, K Ratnabali, dean academics, Anoop Lather, chairperson culture council and DU Public Relations Officer (PRO), Rekha Saxena, head of department (HoD), department of political science.
