Earth Day 2022: Here are careers in environmental conservation

NEW DELHI: Earth Day is an annual event held every year on April 22 in support of environmental protection. World Earth Day was held for the first time on April 22, 1970. Presently, the "vishva prithvi divas" events are coordinated globally by EarthDay.org, which was formerly called the Earth Day Network. The theme for Earth Day 2022 is Invest In Our Planet.
According to the EARTHDAY.ORG website, the objective of the organisation is to "diversify, educate and activate the environmental movement worldwide". The organisation claims to be the largest recruiter for the environmental movement, working with more than 150,000 partners in over 192 countries.
There are many career options where one can contribute to the wellness of the planet. On this earth day 2022 event, rather than just wishing happy earth day and using earth day hashtags on social media, one can also make a choice of contributing to the betterment of the planet by choosing a career that can help the world. Some of such careers are given below:
Forest officer
In India, a range forest officer is vested with the responsibility to take care of the issues related to forests, the environment and the wildlife of a forest range. Apart from working for the conservation, protection, and development of forests and wildlife, they also have the objective to enhance livelihood opportunities of forest-dependent communities.

Environmental lawyer
Environmental lawyers represent clients in legal issues related to air and water quality, hazardous waste, clean technology, and climate change law among others. These lawyers work with governments, private law firms, non-profit organizations etc.

Environmental engineer
Environmental engineers study the effect of technological advances on the environment and help governments and companies in reducing the adverse environmental impact of their projects. For instance, they conduct hazardous-waste management studies, assess the hazard and develop plans for treating and containing it. They work on issues such as recycling, public health, and air and water pollution among others.
