NEW DELHI: Himachal Pradesh Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla said there is a need to make continuous efforts to run the academic and research activities of Himachal Pradesh University in a better manner to establish it as an ideal educational institution of the country.

He made the comments while presiding over the 34th meeting of Himachal Pradesh University (HPU) court. Various issues such as recruitment to the vacant posts of teaching and non-teaching staff were resolved through detailed discussion during the court meeting.

He said this meeting should be organised at least twice a year so that the problems and needs of the university could be quickly discussed and action could be taken for the overall development and improvement of the educational institution and the students.

The Governor added that with the cooperation of competent and experienced members of the court, significant improvement and development in the programs of the university would be ensured.

Congratulating HPU for securing A-grade of the National Assessment and Accreditation Council, Shukla said this success has been achieved due to everyone's contribution and efforts but a lot of hard work was still required. Tireless efforts and a positive attitude needed to bring the university into the category of renowned educational institutions of the country, he added.

He said that the level of academic and research should be raised in all the educational institutions of the state. It is the duty of the teachers serving in educational institutions not to consider their responsibility fulfilled just by making the new generation degree holders, but it was their major responsibility to develop courage and ability in the youth to deal with contemporary challenges as well.
