Faculty Research Awards 2026: NIBMG, Hindu College researchers recognised in multidisciplinary domain

Nidhan K. Biswas of the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics and Mohammad Javed Ansari of Hindu College, Moradabad have been recognised in the multidisciplinary domain.
NEW DELHI : National Institute of Biomedical Genomics professor Nidhan K. Biswas and Hindu College, Moradabad assistant professor Mohammad Javed Ansari have been recognised under the public and private categories.
Nidhan K. Biswas from the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics has been recognised under the public category, while Mohammad Javed Ansari from Hindu College, Moradabad, has been recognised under the private category.
Prof. Nidhan K. Biswas is a Professor at the National Institute of Biomedical Genomics (NIBMG), Kalyani. He received his Ph.D. from Calcutta University and the Indian Statistical Institute and has expertise in cancer genomics, population genomics, and computational genomics. His research focuses on the genomic, transcriptomic, and epigenomic landscape of oral and other cancers, population genetic variation, and the development of computational pipelines for large-scale genomic data analysis.
He has contributed to major international genomics initiatives, including the International Cancer Genome Consortium and GenomeAsia, and has received recognitions including the Young Biotechnologist Fellowship and Fellowship of the West Bengal Academy of Science and Technology. The National Institute of Biomedical Genomics accounts for 79.8% of his scholarly output.

On the other hand, Dr. Mohammad Javed Ansari is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Botany at Hindu College, Moradabad. He earned his Ph.D. in biotechnology, specialising in plant molecular biology, from IIT Roorkee.
His research interests include plant molecular biology, microbiology, biofilms, and antimicrobials. He previously served as an Assistant Professor at King Saud University, Riyadh, and has published extensively in international peer-reviewed journals. Hindu College, Moradabad accounts for 42.2% of his scholarly output.
The award carries a citation and a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and was presented by professor GD Yadav. He was the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Institute of Chemical Technology (ICT) Mumbai and is still associated with it as Emeritus Professor of Eminence.
Prof Yadav is President of the Indian Chemical Society, a Vice-President of the Indian National Science Academy and Fellow of 10 Indian and foreign science academies. He is only the second Indian to become a fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors and the only Indian fellow in the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
